Recipe for hoisin sauce

You can buy hoisin sauce in tokos and supermarkets, but you can also easily make it yourself.

Ingredients hoisin sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 6 tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 4 tsp mirin
  • 1 tsp chili sauce
  • ½ tsp 5-spice powder
  • ½ tsp sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • pinch of salt

Getting started

Crush the garlic cloves and add all the ingredients together in a pan. Let this cook for about ten minutes so that the sauce thickens. You can then use a sieve to remove the garlic pieces.
