Looking for a straightforward, budget-friendly family meal? Picture tender shredded duck confit mingled with sautéed onions, fresh chives, and cream, all layered under golden mashed potatoes. It's creamy, nutritious, and deliciously different.
I've tested this recipe in my own kitchen, and my family couldn't get enough. Best of all, it's incredibly economical. Here's how to make it:

For 4 people
1. Peel and wash the potatoes.
2. Boil them in a pot of water for about 15 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, peel and slice the onion, then sauté it gently in a pan with a little butter until softened.
4. Remove the skin and bones from the duck legs and shred the meat.
5. Fry the shredded duck with the onions.
6. Once cooked, drain the potatoes and mash them in a bowl with a fork.
7. Add the chives, cream, and remaining butter. Season with salt and pepper.
8. In a gratin dish, layer mashed potatoes and duck mixture, repeating until all ingredients are used.
9. Top with a final layer of mashed potatoes.
10. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
11. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 25 minutes.
Your duck parmentier is ready to enjoy! I like serving mine with lamb's lettuce for a fresh contrast.
For an extra golden, au gratin finish, switch to the grill for the last 3-4 minutes.
