Vegan Spiced Nuts Recipe: Butter-Free Pepernoten for Sinterklaas

With Sinterklaas arriving tomorrow, even Saint Nicholas has gone vegan this year. His helper Piet confirms these spiced nuts are his new favorite. Can they taste amazing without butter? Absolutely, thanks to this expert recipe from celebrated food author Miljuschka Witzenhausen.

Vegan Spiced Nuts

75 pieces | 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 250 g self-raising flour
  • 125 g dark caster sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp biscuit spices
  • Pinch of salt
  • 100 g Flora Plant unsalted, cold and cubed
  • 5 tbsp almond milk

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 175°C.

In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients: self-raising flour, salt, sugar, and biscuit spices. Stir with a spoon to break up any lumps.

Add the cold, cubed Flora Plant and almond milk. Knead with your hands until a cohesive dough ball forms.

Roll into small balls and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

For storage in a tin, let them cool completely first.
