Apples and cinnamon are a timeless duo that awakens the senses, but when celebrated chef Cyril Lignac adds his expert touch, the result is an irresistibly soft cake you'll crave again and again.
Ingredients
- Butter for greasing the mold
Batter
- 165g brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 20cl milk
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 vanilla pod
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 170g flour
- 2 apples, cut into sticks (2cm long, 0.5cm wide, 0.5cm thick)
Topping
- 50g sugar
- 2 generous pinches of cinnamon
- 45g melted butter
Utensils
– 1 cutting board + 1 paring knife
– 1 mixing bowl + 1 hand mixer + 1 spatula
– 1 baking tray + 1 silicone mat
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Combine all batter ingredients in the order listed, stirring gently.
- Pour into a buttered 9cm x 13cm mold.
- Mix sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter for the topping; sprinkle over the batter.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Serve with honey butter.
