Ingredients for 1 Liter
- 1 liter of red wine (Bordeaux recommended for best results)
- 150g caster sugar
- 2 teaspoons powdered ginger
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 vanilla pods
- A few cinnamon sticks
- 1 nutmeg
- Optional: a few slices of orange or lemon
How to Prepare
- In a saucepan, bring the wine to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in the caster sugar until dissolved.
- Add the ground cinnamon and ginger powder.
- Grate the nutmeg directly over the mixture.
- Return to low heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add the cinnamon sticks and vanilla pods.
- Cover and let infuse for 20 minutes.
- Serve in mugs garnished with a cinnamon stick and optional lemon or orange slice.
