Recipe:5 warm cocktails for the holidays

Warm cocktails are the ideal replacement for traditional cocktails during the cold days of the year. We have listed the five best hot cocktails recipes that you can make at home.

Spiced apple tea Ingredients (for 2 cocktails):50 ml gin, 15 ml Martini Bianco, 20 ml fresh lemon juice, 3 thin slices of apple, 1 cinnamon stick; 3 cloves; 3 cardamom pods (broken); ¼ vanilla pod, 1 black tea bag, 15 ml honey, 150 ml water, 50 ml apple juice

Method:Add water, honey and apple to a pot and heat. When hot, add herbs and tea bag and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Remove tea bag and add apple juice. Add gin, Martini Rosso and fresh lemon juice and stir before serving. Serve in a large tea cup. Garnish with orange zest, apple slices and nutmeg.

White mulled wine
Dare something different this year by drinking white wine mulled wine instead of the usual red mulled wine.

Ingredients (for a group):2 bottles of white wine, 500 ml cider, 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 tsp star anise, 4 tbsp. caster sugar, lemon zest of 1 lemon

Method:Pour your wine into a saucepan along with the cider and your ingredients and bring to a boil. When the aroma of the herbs fills the kitchen, it is ready to serve.

Cola de Mono
This Chilean cocktail combines milk, sugar, coffee, cloves and a generous amount of alcohol.

Ingredients (for 2):6 cloves, 2 cinnamon sticks, 300 ml milk, 75 g sugar, 100 ml fresh coffee, 50 ml white rum/cognac/gin

Method:Fill a saucepan with the spices, milk and sugar and heat until the sugar is well dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in coffee, add alcohol of choice just before serving, and garnish with a few cinnamon sticks.

Tom and Jerry
A traditional cocktail in the United States is the Tom and Jerry. It is a variation of the popular eggnog made by adding brandy and rum and served hot.

Ingredients (for 2):1 egg, 1 tsp syrup or sugar, 50 ml dark rum, 50 ml brandy, 350 ml warm milk (dairy-free options like almond milk are also good), and grated nutmeg for garnish.

Method:Separate the yolk and white and beat separately before mixing again. Add the sugar, rum and brandy and cover with hot milk or water and stir well. Garnish with a sprinkling of nutmeg.

Glogg
The Scandinavian Glogg is another variation on mulled wine with the addition of cognac.

Ingredients (for a group):1 liter red wine, 1 liter port, 750 ml brandy, 3 cinnamon sticks, 1 teaspoon cardamom seeds, 24 cloves, 1 orange peel, 25 g raisins, 25 g blanched almonds, 400 g sugar

Method:Heat the wine and liqueurs together in a saucepan until hot but not boiling all the way. You can also flambé the mix. Let it cool for about 10 minutes before adding your spices, raisins and almonds and serve when cool enough to drink.
