Easy to bake, irresistibly delicious, and endlessly comforting—cookies are a kitchen staple. Whether curbing a sweet craving, sharing at brunch with friends, or pairing with a romantic comedy, these treats have all the answers. That's why we bake them for every occasion and love exploring new recipes (tried the microwave cookie yet? It's a game-changer!). So when celebrated chef Cyril Lignac—who inspired home cooks nationwide during 2020—shared his double chocolate cookies, we jumped at the chance to recreate them.

Parisian gourmet haven Plisson House revealed Cyril Lignac's decadent double chocolate cookie recipe on Instagram. As baking enthusiasts with years of testing top recipes, we tried it immediately—and it's phenomenal. Short on time? Their e-shop sells a ready-to-bake kit.

How to Make Cyril Lignac's Double Chocolate Cookies

Preparation time: 20 minutes
Chilling time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes

For 20 cookies:

  • 190g milk chocolate
  • 190g dark chocolate
  • 120g brown sugar
  • 120g caster sugar
  • 300g flour
  • 6g baking powder
  • 175g soft unsalted butter
  • 1 egg

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Soften the butter at room temperature. Finely chop both chocolates and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, caster sugar, flour, and baking powder. Add the cubed soft butter and egg, mix well, then fold in the chocolates.
  3. On silicone mat or parchment paper, shape the dough into a 5cm-diameter log.
  4. Dust with flour to prevent sticking. Chill for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 170°C. Slice dough into 2.5cm rounds, space apart on parchment-lined baking sheet, and bake 10 minutes.
  6. Enjoy warm or cooled.

Pro tip: Halve the recipe? Whisk the egg and save half for an omelet.
