Oreo's Bold China-Exclusive Flavors: Fried Chicken Wings and Wasabi

Asian markets have long embraced innovative twists on Western favorites, and Oreo—the beloved chocolate sandwich cookie with its signature cream filling—is a prime example. Building on 2017's China-only hits like birthday cake, green tea, and pumpkin spice, Mondelēz (Oreo's parent company) has now launched two daring new flavors: fried chicken wings and wasabi. The agri-food giant shared these updates on its Twitter account.

Neon-Colored Creams

These 'bold' cookies make a visual statement too. The classic white cream is now vibrant orange for the fried chicken wings flavor and vivid green for wasabi. Online reactions were immediate and mixed: some expressed curiosity about wasabi Oreos, while most voiced shock and distaste. Given China's adventurous food culture, which continually pushes culinary boundaries, these flavors are unlikely to expand beyond its borders—and that may be for the best.
