This ombre trend has taken food by storm, just like it did with hair coloring. Gradient-colored treats are not only visually striking but also highly shareable on Instagram. Case in point: this beautiful blueberry ombre yogurt parfait, featured by Well+Good. Light, fresh, and delicious, it's the perfect summer dessert.
"It's made with sheep's milk yogurt," says chef Alexis Bondaroff, "which offers beneficial fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals that the body absorbs more easily than cow's milk." The creamy texture is ideal for creating that smooth gradient, and it's packed with protein, low in sugars, and boosted with blueberries' antioxidants for added health benefits.
Ingredients (serves 4):
600 g white sheep's cheese
200 g frozen blueberries
Maple syrup
1 teaspoon lemon zest
Fresh blueberries for garnish
1. Blend frozen blueberries, maple syrup, and lemon zest into a smooth puree.
2. Mix half the puree with half the sheep's milk yogurt until uniform.
3. In a glass verrine, layer plain sheep's milk yogurt, then the yogurt-blueberry mix, and top with puree.
4. Garnish with fresh blueberries if desired. Enjoy!
Note: For a more dramatic ombre effect, divide the yogurt into more layers and gradually add puree for varying shades of purple.
