Crisps are a staple of any aperitif, beloved yet predictable. A group of innovative students from Normandy aimed to change that by creating Frigochips—a thin potato slice dusted with dry ice. The result? A dramatic cloud of smoke billows from your mouth with every bite, turning snack time into a showstopper.
Developed by industrial refrigeration students at the National Agency for Adult Vocational Training (Afpa) in Alençon, Frigochips will debut at the Imagine competition during the CFIA food industry trade fair in Rennes from March 7 to 9, 2017. To build buzz, the team produced a captivating video: "Frigochips, an innovation—a frosty, refreshing crisp, the one you dreamed of on summer evenings." Though still a prototype, these creators envision commercial success, promising to elevate aperitifs with unforgettable flair.
