Easy Homemade Celeriac Puree: Creamy Side Dish Ready in 30 Minutes

As a home cook who enjoys straightforward recipes, I recently tried making celeriac puree for the first time. The result was surprisingly delicious—a creamy, subtly flavored side dish that's simple to prepare. It takes about 30 minutes total, with minimal hands-on time.

Make your own celeriac puree

This celeriac puree is straightforward to prepare and offers a pure, delicate flavor with mild anise notes. It's an excellent side dish. I used my Magimix at home, but a powerful blender works just as well.

If you're shopping for celeriac, look for this knobby root vegetable.

Ingredients you need for the celeriac puree:

  • A whole celeriac (about 750 grams)
  • 75 ml Demi crème fraîche
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

How to prepare celeriac puree

Peel the celeriac with a sharp knife, cut into 2 cm pieces, and steam for 30 minutes until tender.

Steaming options include a steam oven, Magimix steamer, or a pan with a steam basket like bamboo, stainless steel, or silicone.

Once steamed, combine the celeriac, crème fraîche, and olive oil in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth using a powerful motor. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
