Creating your own dips and spreads at home is straightforward, quick, and yields flavors and nutrition far superior to store-bought options. As Santé's go-to recipe expert, Annemiek shares one of her monthly favorites: creamy labneh topped with parsley and za'atar.
Labneh's versatility shines with endless topping ideas, including pomegranate seeds, diced tomatoes, sumac, oregano, pistachios, coriander, mint, basil, chili flakes, or sesame seeds.
Ingredients
- 500 g Turkish or Greek yogurt
- Zest of ½ lemon
- Fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- Za'atar
- Additionally needed: cheesecloth and strainer
How to Make It
- Mix the yogurt with a pinch of salt.
- Line a sieve with clean cheesecloth over a bowl. Pour in the yogurt and drain for at least four hours until it thickens into a creamy, cheese-like consistency.
- Transfer the labneh to a bowl and garnish with lemon zest, finely chopped parsley, za'atar, and a drizzle of olive oil.
