Nutritional yeast flakes as a replacement for cheese

Something that is often missed by people who switch to a vegan lifestyle? Cheese. There are substitutes for cheese. One of those products is nutritional yeast.

What are nutritional yeast flakes? Nutritional yeast is made from the unicellular yeast Sacchoromyces Cerevisar. It is a by-product of sugar. This type of yeast is widely used for bread and beer. Nutritional yeast is rich in vitamin B, folic acid, protein and amino acids, among other things. It is healthy and as a cheese substitute it fits very well in a vegan diet.

The taste and structure of nutritional yeast flakes is slightly reminiscent of Parmesan cheese. You can sprinkle the flakes over your pasta or casserole, but you can also make a sauce out of them. The savory taste of nutritional yeast flakes works well in various dishes. Quick tip:nutritional yeast also tastes great over popcorn.
