Delicious celeriac puree as a side dish; ready in a jiffy

Making simple dishes, I love it. This time I made a celeriac puree - for the first time in my life. So I have no idea how this would taste exactly, but what a delicious dish this is! In addition, it is also easy to make. You should keep in mind that it takes about 30 minutes to make, but you don't have to stay with it most of the time.

Make your own celeriac puree

As mentioned, this celeriac puree is very easy to make. In addition, it is also very pure in taste. I find it very tasty as a side dish. I made the celeriac puree in the Magimix I have at home, but you can also easily make the puree in a blender if you want.

If you have to look for a celeriac in the store… it looks like this 😉

Ingredients you need for the celeriac puree:

  • A whole celeriac (about 750 grams)
  • 75 ml Demi crème frache
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

How to prepare celeriac puree

First of all, peel the celeriac with a knife. Then you make pieces of about 2 centimeters, before you let the celeriac steam for 30 minutes.

You can steam the celeriac in different ways. I myself have a steam oven in which I could put the celeriac, but this time I did it in the Magimix, which you can also steam in. Don't have either one? No worries! You can also just steam in the pan, with a steam basket. Use, for example, a bamboo steamer basket or a stainless steel or silicone variant.

Once the celeriac has been steamed, you can make a puree from it. You can easily make the celeriac puree in a blender, for example. Put the celeriac, the demi crème frache and the olive oil together in the blender and blend into a nice puree. Make sure you have a good blender (or hand blender) with a powerful motor.

Add salt and pepper to taste and your celeriac puree is ready. The puree has a very subtle taste that is a bit aniseed.

Making celeriac puree in the Magimix

If you also make the celeriac puree (like I do) in the Magimix, you can first steam it for 30 minutes with the steam basket. Then throw away the water, put the celeriac with the rest of the ingredients in the stainless steel bowl and let it mix and mash for 3 minutes with the EXPERT program at a speed of 13.

Serving tips for celeriac puree

  • We ate the celeriac puree along with oven-baked vegetables and my own slow cooker spareribs recipe.
  • But I think it's even tastier if you serve the puree with fish, for example. Add a delicious steamed salmon, or white fish.
  • By the way, did you know that celeriac also fits perfectly in a low-carbohydrate diet?
