For fast-food fans, McDonald's menus offer an irresistible guilty pleasure. But vegetarians avoiding meat and fish have long been limited to options like salads or goat cheese wraps, watching others savor hearty burgers.
Good news: those constraints are easing temporarily. McDonald's has launched a new breaded cheese burger in its limited "American Winter" menu, available through March. The meat patty is replaced by crispy, melted breaded cheese, paired with fresh tomato slices and lettuce for balance.
It's no lighter fare, though—with 601 kcal compared to the Big Mac's 508 kcal. Still, McDonald's isn't about dieting; it's about enjoyment, now with a meat-free twist.
If it gains traction, we hope it joins the permanent menu.
