Lasagna Recipe for Oven or Slow Cooker

This lasagna isn't complicated, but it rewards a bit of prep time. Unlike dump-and-go slow cooker meals, lasagna needs layering. Plan ahead—start in the morning or prep the day before for stress-free results.

Ingredients for Lasagna

These make the lasagna base; béchamel ingredients follow separately.

  • Pack of lasagna sheets
  • 500g ground beef
  • Small can tomato paste
  • Pack of passata (500ml)
  • 2 onions
  • 1 zucchini
  • 2 bell peppers
  • 2 leeks
  • Trays of mushrooms
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp Italian herbs (Pit & Pit brand for exceptional flavor)
  • Salt to taste
  • Grated cheese

Ingredients for the Béchamel Sauce

  • 500ml cold milk
  • 50g flour (a few tablespoons)
  • 50g butter
  • Stock powder to taste

Initial Prep for Lasagna (Oven or Slow Cooker)

  • Chop onions
  • Dice bell peppers and zucchini
  • Slice leeks thinly and mushrooms
  • Crush garlic cloves
  • Brown ground beef slowly in a pan
  • In a wok, sauté garlic and onions in oil until translucent
  • Stir in tomato paste
  • Add peppers, leeks, zucchini, mushrooms; season with salt
  • Pour in passata and Italian herbs
  • Mix in browned beef

Béchamel Sauce

  • Grease slow cooker
  • Start with meat-veggie sauce layer
  • Add lasagna sheets (break to fit)
  • Spread béchamel
  • Repeat: sauce, sheets, béchamel
  • Finish with sauce layer, top with cheese

  • Preheat to 200°C
