TV Presenter Hélène Hendriks Shares Her Balanced Food Diary

In our 'Eating Diary' series, we explore the daily meals of TV presenter Hélène Hendriks, revealing her approach to nutritious, varied eating.

"I prioritize healthy, diverse meals packed with fruits and vegetables. My diet isn't strictly vegetarian—I occasionally choose chicken or fish. I don't count calories; instead, I enjoy cooking and experimenting. My tastes span many cuisines. Snacking is a habit, so I balance it: after cheese and chips one day, I eat mindfully the next."

Breakfast

"It varies by what's on hand. One option is cottage cheese with pear, nuts, honey, and two glasses of ginger tea. Other times, it's two hearty whole-wheat crackers topped with cheese or cold cuts."

Lunch

"Typically two whole-wheat crackers with hummus, cheese, or cold cuts. Or sandwiches with peanut butter or cheese spread. Sometimes, a sandwich with grilled eggplant and chicken."

Dinner

"Always varied—I love trying new recipes. Yesterday, I made meatballs with Mexican herbs, sun-dried tomatoes, egg, onion, pine nuts, and olives, served with rice and oven-roasted vegetables (eggplant, zucchini, onion, tomato, and bell pepper). Vegetables are a staple—at least half my plate."

In Between

"I enjoy latte macchiato with soy milk, ginger tea, water, and Coke Zero. Occasionally, a glass of red wine. For snacks, hazelnut chocolate, cookies, toasts with pesto, or cucumber and tomato seasoned with pepper, salt, and olive oil."
