The crossing immediately explains the name of the pluot, it is a contraction of 'plum' and 'apricot'. The composition of a pluot is about three quarters plum and one quarter apricot.

There are different types

There are different types of pluots; with dark skin, light skin, sometimes the skin even tends to purple. The taste can differ per variety, the biggest similarity is that all varieties are quite sweet.
