Almonds are a go-to healthy snack for many, and research from the U.S. confirms their ability to effectively reduce the urge for junk food.
The Study
Researchers divided participants into five groups. Two groups ate 30 almonds in the morning or afternoon with a meal. Two others snacked on the almonds mid-morning or mid-afternoon. A control group avoided nuts and seeds altogether, with no other dietary rules imposed.
Key Benefits
Almond consumers added an average of 250 calories from the nuts but stayed within their usual daily intake. They felt significantly less hungry—especially with between-meal snacking—and experienced no extra weight gain.
