Versatile chestnuts can be roasted, boiled, pureed, or even popped—each method yields fantastic results. Try these two simple ways to make irresistible chestnut snacks.

Ingredients:
– Fresh chestnuts
– Milk and honey, or sea salt (depending on your preparation method)

Preparation Methods:

Boiled Chestnuts
Score a slit in the pointed end of each chestnut. Simmer in boiling water for 3 minutes, then cool slightly and peel. Return peeled chestnuts to boiling water and simmer for 30 minutes (or 1 hour total if pureeing). For a sweet twist, swap water for milk with honey. For savory, add sea salt.

Roasted Chestnuts
Score a slit in the pointed end. In a frying pan, sauté with a pat of butter or extra virgin olive oil until golden. Alternatively, roast in a preheated 200°C oven for about 15 minutes, drizzled with olive oil and sea salt.

Enjoy your wholesome chestnut snacks!
