Sunny days call for fresh, cooling treats. As a home cook who's perfected quick, budget-friendly recipes over years of experimenting, I've got a simple yogurt-based ice candy that's creamy, fruity, and far healthier than store-bought ice cream.
With scorching heat making ice cream tempting—but loaded with calories, additives, and requiring a store run—this no-fuss alternative hits the spot. It's quick to prep, uses pantry staples, and freezes into adorable bites.
Grab yogurt or cottage cheese, a sweetener like honey or stevia, fresh fruits of your choice, and ice cube trays (heart-shaped ones add a fun touch!).
1. Mix 3 yogurts with 2 tablespoons of liquid honey until smooth.
2. Fill ice cube trays halfway with the mixture, leaving room for fruit.
3. Add fruit to each compartment: half a strawberry sliced lengthwise, a quartered apricot, a cherry (pitted or whole), currants, raspberries, or your favorites. It's like hidden fruit surprises!
4. Freeze until solid. Patience is key—they're ready when firm.
Customize with fruits, or mix in chocolate powder, cinnamon, cardamom, mint leaves, orange blossom or rose syrup, lavender, or violet. For an extra zing, add a drop of lemon, lavender, or mint essential oil to the yogurt base.

If you make them, share your thoughts in the comments—I love hearing how they turn out.
For about 48 candies, this costs under €1. Two candies equal one ice cream cone in satisfaction. Market-bought 24 cones? At least €6, packed with preservatives. Skip the extras and save €5 while staying healthier.
