The food diary of news reader Amber Brantsen

Amber Brantsen, newsreader at the NOS news, will be in the Santé this month with an extensive interview. We also asked about her eating habits during the day. This is her food diary!

“I don't know much about meat, but I do know chicken and fish. Beef and pork are too heavy for me. I am also a big fan of vegetables. But I don't always eat healthy. For example, last night I ate two egg sandwiches because I was too lazy to stand in the kitchen.”

Eating diary Amber

Breakfast

“My day always starts with a vegetable juice. Once in a while I get a box of frozen juices delivered. Admittedly, they are not all equally tasty, but I notice that I go well on them. I also usually drink probiotics. The breakfast itself is quite different. If I have time, I make a bowl of cottage cheese with yogurt, fruit and nuts. If I have a morning shift, I eat an easy sandwich or cracker in the car.”

Lunch

“I am a big fan of fresh warm bread for lunch. And everything is possible on that, from avocado to egg and from crab salad to vegan filet américain. The vegan version is so much tastier. Add a fresh orange juice and my lunch is done.”

Dinner

“My favorite is sushi. But I can eat that all day long. You make me very happy with a simple meal with chicken, broccoli and potatoes. Or with a richly filled salad with chicken or fish. But my Surinamese roots also occasionally ask for a roti meal or a tasty nasi.”

In between

“Fruit is number one, but now and then I also reach for a currant bun or egg cake. When it's party time (or when I just feel like it) you make me happy with something that contains chocolate.”
