From Chef Hubert's kitchen: Beat the egg with caster sugar in a bowl using a whisk until smooth and frothy.
Add softened butter, then gradually incorporate the flour. Mix in chocolate chips or crushed chocolate, baking powder, cinnamon powder, and liquid vanilla.
Butter tartlet molds and pour in the batter. Top with half pears (cooked in syrup or canned), rounded side up. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Bake for 8-10 minutes in a low oven. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes.
Note: For a whole cake, use halved pears. For individual tartlets, cube or slice the pears.
