While traditional sources still dominate recipe inspiration for most Dutch consumers, online channels are gaining traction. Food blogs and vlogs are increasingly popular, especially among women. Yet cookbooks and free shopping magazines remain the leading influences, according to Multiscope's Smart Food Monitor—a comprehensive survey of 7,000 Dutch respondents.
More than half (51%) of Dutch people rely on free shopping magazines, the most popular source for new recipes and products. Tips from family and friends (46%) and cookbooks (45%) follow closely. Food blogs appeal to 10% of women, and their impact is significant: over nine in ten (91%) followers report being influenced by a blog post or vlog.
Social media is used by 24%, with Facebook dominating at 89%. The Tasty Facebook page stands out as a key inspiration. Younger adults (18-34) lead adoption at nearly half, while only 10% of those over 50 use it.
