Nasi Goreng: The Undisputed King of Rice Dishes in the Netherlands

The Dutch have a serious passion for rice—66% enjoy it at least once every two weeks, with half indulging weekly. Nasi Goreng: The Timeless Dutch Rice Favorite

An overwhelming 82% of participants crowned Nasi Goreng as their go-to rice dish. This Indonesian classic has woven itself into Dutch culinary culture for generations, making its top spot intuitive. Yet, it's striking that over eight in ten prefer it so decisively, especially against the runner-up.

The Top Five Rice Dishes

Rice with Chicken Curry claims second place at 41%, often prepared from convenient packets but always a hit. Sweet and Sour Chicken follows at 20%, then Risotto at 19%. Fried rice rounds out at 17%, a versatile staple using pantry leftovers. Paella and Thai Curry tie for fifth at 13% each. Emerging strong is the Poké Bowl—a Hawaiian import that's quickly becoming a modern classic, especially among young women.
