Who doesn't love pizza? Quick to prepare and bursting with flavor, it's the ultimate dish for family gatherings and casual nights in. Pizza nights have become a cherished ritual for many, especially on relaxed evenings. While classics like margherita, napoletana, calzone, and four-cheese reign supreme in Italian cuisine, celebrity chef Cyril Lignac elevates the game. On his popular M6 show Tous en Cuisine, he shared his inventive rolled Bolognese pizza recipe—tested and unanimously approved by fans!
Cyril Lignac's Rolled Bolognese Pizza Recipe
Preparation time: 20 minutes.
Cooking time: 15 minutes.
For this Cyril Lignac-inspired Bolognese pizza, you'll need:
- 1 rectangular pizza dough roll
- 3 balls of mozzarella
- 1 egg
- A handful of basil leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon powdered Espelette pepper
- 400 g minced beef
- 300 g tomato coulis
- 1 onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1/2 carrot
- 1 piece of celeriac
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
Step-by-step preparation:
- In a saucepan, sauté the chopped onion, diced carrot, and celery in a little olive oil.
- Add the minced beef, salt, and pepper, then stir in the minced garlic and chopped basil leaves.
- Cook and caramelize for 10 minutes, then pour in the tomato coulis.
- Simmer over low heat and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 250°C.
- On a work surface, roll out the pizza dough and cut into 4 equal strips.
- Top each strip with finely sliced mozzarella and Bolognese sauce.
- Fold the sides over and pinch the edges from top to bottom to form sausage-like rolls.
- In a buttered round mold, arrange the stuffed rolls pinched-side inward to form a circular pizza shape. Brush with egg yolk.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes.
- Once cooked, brush with olive oil, sprinkle with Espelette pepper, and garnish with basil leaves.
