We've seen our share of whimsical treats, but the unicorn macarons from Mac Lab Bakery in Duluth, Georgia, set a high bar for cuteness. Yet, Toronto-based self-taught pastry chef Melissa—known on Instagram as Melly Eats World—has taken it further with her enchanting animal macarons: kittens, pandas, pigs, hens, and more. Inspired by her three-year-old nephew, she shares, "By spending time with him, I started seeing the world through his eyes. I wanted to create cute, whimsical things that make people smile."
Pastry-making has been Melissa's passion since childhood, serving as a therapeutic outlet. "It's like an edible science experiment," she says. "I'm the one baking six dozen cupcakes the night before a big exam to de-stress." Her precision shines through—even drawing animal tails on the backs of her macarons. Some designs take up to eight hours for just two dozen, truly a labor of love.
On Instagram, Melly Eats World presents her creations with stunning originality, drawing nearly 12,000 followers. Orders are in high demand with waitlists, making her macarons ideal for baby showers or birthdays. They're so lifelike, you might hesitate to take a bite!
