Pierre Hermé Named World's Best Pastry Chef by World's 50 Best Restaurants

Pierre Hermé has been crowned the world's best pastry chef by the World's 50 Best Restaurants, an esteemed annual ranking compiled by 972 international experts—including food critics, chefs, and restaurateurs. Following the honor, he shared on Twitter: "Honored to receive this title and hopes to continue surprising gourmets around the world."

This master of art and design continually reimagines chocolates, tarts, and cakes, but he's renowned worldwide for his macarons featuring bold, unique flavor pairings. The French pâtissier built his global empire on these delicacies, now available at 47 boutiques across 12 countries. It all began in the 1980s when he pioneered inventive combinations, moving beyond classics like chocolate or pistachio: think olive oil and vanilla, Mogador with milk chocolate and passion fruit, or the iconic Ispahan blending raspberry, lychee, and rose. If you've tasted a Pierre Hermé macaron, you know their irresistible allure.

Hermé celebrates the rising passion for premium pastry, noting: "There are more and more talented pastry chefs making waves—opening shops, creating exceptional desserts in hotels and restaurants. The profession is thriving, with young people eager to learn. It's wonderful." His own journey started early at age 14 under Gaston Lenôtre, followed by stints at Fauchon and the legendary Ladurée before launching his namesake brand.
