When you picture a festival, music might come to mind first, but Albert Heijn's Allerhande Christmas Festival proves it can be a culinary highlight. Returning for its third year on December 8, 9, and 10 at Utrecht's Railway Museum, this event is perfect if you're dreading your Christmas menu, seeking inspiration, or craving a fun, delicious day out—minus the in-laws!
I attended last year with my family, and we're all eager to return. Tickets sell out fast, so grab yours early—it's truly worth it, as my husband Frank and kids agree!

Christmas dinner can be stressful, but Albert Heijn excels at making it effortless with their premium ready-to-cook menus. Prefer to craft your own? The Allerhande Christmas Festival delivers endless inspiration. Even if cooking isn't your forte, you'll discover approachable recipes, from simple oven-bakes to showstoppers. Suitable for all ages, it's a welcoming space for families and food lovers alike.
This event is your one-stop Christmas inspiration hub—complete with tastings! Sample festive snacks, wines (wine glasses in hand everywhere 😊), and more. Love what you try? Many items are available for immediate purchase.
Last year, we found our Christmas Eve roulade here—a flavorful, easy option that just needed oven time. The venison steak won over the family (except me—Bambi flashbacks!), with the chef sharing insights on ethical sourcing. Tastings are unlimited with entry, covering fish, meat, savory, sweet, ice creams, and desserts. Kids adore the freedom to sample freely!
Beyond tastings, enjoy workshops, live entertainment like marshmallow roasting and possibly a Ferris wheel, plus a drinks square. Kids' options included the Kids Kook Café and crafts—my children Luc and Lotte crafted adorable snowmen for our Christmas village.
This year's lineup shines: creative sessions for poinsettias, Christmas picks, garland mobiles, and customized ornaments. Food workshops feature Harold Hamersma's wine tasting "Don't Talk, Just Drink," main courses, desserts, Allerhande Box recipes, and cover-dish recreations.
Plenty more to inspire—sign up early!
