Easy Homemade Hangop Recipe: Authentic Dutch Yogurt Curd

While store-bought yogurts and frozen treats have become ubiquitous, homemade versions offer unmatched freshness and flavor. Hangop, a beloved traditional Dutch recipe, transforms simple yogurt into a creamy, quark-like curd by draining away the whey—perfect for breakfast or dessert.

What you'll need:
– Clean tea towel
– Strainer
– Pan

Ingredients:
– 1 liter yogurt (low-fat or full-fat)
– Fruit of your choice
– Optional: fresh vanilla pod

Preparation method:
1. Place the strainer over the pan, ensuring the bottom doesn't touch the pan base.
2. Wet the clean tea towel.
3. Line the strainer with the tea towel.
4. Pour the yogurt into the tea towel.
5. Cover with plastic wrap.
6. Refrigerate for 8 hours.
7. The whey will have drained into the pan, leaving ready-to-eat curd. Stir in fruit and optional toppings for a delicious treat.
