Struggling to keep green salads fresh longer? Salads wilt quickly, especially in the fridge, leading to waste. As a home cooking expert, I've tested this reliable trick that keeps them crisp for a full week.

1. Place a small amount of lettuce in a plastic bag. Don't fill it completely—leave space for air, as shown in the photo.
2. Partially close the bag with one hand, then blow into it to fill with air (carbon dioxide).
3. Seal the bag by twisting it several times and tying a knot.
4. Store the bag in the fridge. Repeat for the remaining salad.
Your green salad will stay fresh, crisp, and flavorful much longer. These inflated bags take up more space, but it's worth it to reduce waste.
If washing the salad beforehand, dry it thoroughly with a clean cloth to minimize moisture.
This method works for all leafy greens like lettuce, baby spinach, arugula, mesclun, or lamb's lettuce—and even fresh herbs.
Pro tip: Wash and dry plastic bags for easy reuse.
