We tested:fresh homemade pasta in just 10 minutes with the Philips Pasta Maker

What is it?

A food processor that can make up to 600 g of fresh pasta (spaghetti, penne, fettuccine or lasagna) in just one go and in just 10 minutes, i.e. the equivalent of a main course for 4 to 6 people or an accompaniment for 8 to 10 people. You can vary the shapes, but also the colors and flavors by using spelled, chestnut or buckwheat flour, by adding an egg or spices before kneading, by replacing the water with spinach juice , beets or carrots…

His secret?

Everything is automatic. The disc corresponding to the desired pasta is fixed on the end of the device. Pour flour and water into the bowl, close the lid, press the program selected according to the number of guests and let the Pasta Maker do its work. After only 3 minutes of kneading, the dough is extracted from the device. All you have to do is cut the pasta as it comes out, using a scraper knife. No need for drying time, the pasta can go straight to the pan!

And in real life, what does it look like?

First impressions* and assembly.

The device gives an impression of solidity and robustness. It is easy to disassemble and reassemble and above all washes well, since everything is dishwasher safe!

Small problem:the instructions are a bit scattered between the box itself, the recipe booklet and the operating booklet.

Manufacturing.

The Pasta Maker is really 2 to 3 times faster than a traditional machine (by hand). Before, you had to mix the flour and water, let the preparation rest, pass it and iron it through a rolling mill with a crank, then cut the pasta and let it dry. There it kneads and it comes out almost at the same time. Count only 10 minutes from the start (putting the ingredients in the device) to the exit of the pasta. Magic!

The downside:there is always a little bit of dough left at the bottom that you can't quite recover.

Cooking.

Our gluten-free pasta made with a mixture of rice flour (400 g) and buckwheat flour (30 g) crumbles a little and breaks before cooking. The top:the mixture of wheat semolina + T55 white flour. We obtain pasta that holds well when cooked, does not release its starch.

Verdict

It's solid! The Pasta Maker keeps its promises, it is really ultra fast, and does not take up too much space in the kitchen (it is a little bigger than a robot). Most ? No soiling of the worktop.
