mugcake madness

What is it?

A cake in a mug, as its name suggests! No dishes, no waiting:we prepare everything directly in the cup and cook in less than a minute in the microwave. It's simple, super fast, and you need next to nothing. Ideal when you have a sudden craving for chocolate at midnight and the cupboards are empty. And if you're not a fan of chocolate, the mug cake also exists in cheesecake, cookie, crumble... and even light versions! The only problem:once you've tried it, you become addicted.

Where does it come from?

The United States. It was imagined by bloggers in 2011. In France, it was Muriel, from the Cookingmumu blog, who was the first to sniff out the trend. Since then, we are spoiled for choice when it comes to recipes…

Let's get started.

With the chocolate mug cake recipe, the essential! We put 30 g of butter and 10 squares of chocolate in the mug, we melt 30 seconds in the microwave. We mix, we add 20 g of sugar, 20 g of flour and 1 egg. Mix again and put back in the microwave for 1 minute, maximum power. It's (already) ready. You can give free rein to your imagination and add what you like:caramel, Nutella, nuts... In short, anything is possible! On the other hand, we watch the cooking because it is more or less fast depending on the power of the microwave and the mug used. For a ceramic mug, bake for 45 seconds rather than one minute, to avoid finding the mug cake spread on the walls of the oven!
