Hands-On Test: Tupperware Silicone Waffle Mold with Two Gourmet Recipes

Traditionally, 'waffle mold' brought to mind the classic metal griddle. Now, it evokes Tupperware's innovative silicone version. As a self-confessed novice cook—endorsed by my inner circle—I've rigorously tested this mold for you.

Waffles with Foie Gras Spices

To impress my dinner guests, I turned to Tupperware's 'Les Gaufres' cookbook from the Collection Savoir-Faire series. This elegant recipe had me salivating at first sight.

Prep time: 10 min
Cook time: 30 sec at 600 watts; 20 min in fan oven at Th 6 or 180°C

Ingredients for 4 waffles (8 people):

  • 100g gingerbread
  • 2 eggs
  • 50 ml milk
  • 15 g sugar
  • 2 ml baking powder
  • 25 g butter

Garnish:

  • 200g foie gras terrine
  • 200 g herb salad (mixed herbs, beetroot sprouts, mesclun, etc.)
  • 50 ml honey vinaigrette

Instructions:

  1. Break gingerbread into pieces in a food processor (I used mine as a substitute for the Extra Chef). Add eggs, milk, and sugar; mix lightly. Rest 15 minutes to soak.
  2. Add baking powder and butter melted for 30 sec at 600 watts. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour into silicone waffle mold on cold oven rack. Bake 20 min in preheated fan oven at Th 6 or 180°C.
  4. Cool slightly, unmold, and slice diagonally.
  5. Serve ½ waffle per person topped with foie gras, salad, and honey vinaigrette.

Honey Vinaigrette: In a shaker, add 25 ml mustard, 100 ml sherry vinegar, 300 ml oil, 30 ml liquid honey, salt, and pepper. Shake well. Refrigerate.

Results: Budget-tight, I swapped foie gras for pâté—less fancy, but incredibly tasty. Next time, I'll crisp them longer post-unmolding for extra crunch. Success!

Lemon Meringue Waffles

This recipe stole my heart—perfect for a waffle and lemon tart lover like me. Equipment gaps aside, flavor was the goal.

Prep time: 20 min
Cook time: 50 sec at 600 W; 16-17 min fan oven Th 7/8 or 220°C; 4-5 min more

Ingredients for 8 waffles:

  • 3 eggs (yolks and whites separated)
  • 200 ml milk
  • 175g flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 5 ml baking powder
  • ½ untreated lemon (zest)
  • 75 g sugar
  • 90g butter

Garnish:

Instructions:

  1. Mix yolks, milk, flour, salt, baking powder, lemon zest, and sugar with a whisk. Add butter melted 50 sec at 600 W.
  2. Whip 3 whites stiff; fold in gently.
  3. Divide into two molds on cold rack; bake 12 min at Th 7/8 or 220°C. Rest 2 min, unmold onto silicone sheet, cool.
  4. Whip 4 whites with icing sugar for meringue.
  5. Spread lemon curd on waffles, pipe meringue (I piled it high!), bake 4-5 min until golden. Cool fully.

Results: Not photo-perfect, but a hit! Guests raved, no illnesses reported. Longer post-mold bake next for superior crisp.
