7 things you can use salt for

Salt is not just a means to make your food less bland. You can use it for many more (unexpected) things and this is what.

Apples

You may not expect it, but if you dip an apple in salt water, it will rot less quickly and will last longer. The salt provides an oxidation that ensures that your apples stay fresh longer. Soak your apples in a bowl of water and salt for about 10 minutes. Then rinse them with water and they can go on the fruit bowl!

Cooling drinks

Do you want to cool drinks quickly? Then add salt to your ice bucket. Ice and salt provide an extra cold reaction. This is a great tip, especially in the summer. Fill a bucket with ice and sprinkle the salt over it.

Chopping board

Have you cut a piece of meat or a vegetable and your cutting board now smells really bad? Sprinkle salt over the plank and rub it over with a warm damp cloth. The odors are gone!

Garlic and onion

Did you just cut garlic and onion and your hands smell bad? Rub some salt and lemon juice on your hands and then wash them with soap. The smell should disappear immediately.

Drain

Do your drains often clog? Then pour cup of salt down your drain with a liter of boiling water every week. This way it all flows nicely again.

Coffee and teacup

Do you have a lot of deposits in your coffee and tea cups and can't get it out anymore? You probably guessed it. Salt ensures that the deposits melt away and your cup looks like new again!

Glossy glasses

Do you have a lot of glassware that looks dull? With two tablespoons of vinegar and a cup of salt you make a mixture that makes your glass shine again. Coat your glassware with the mixture and let it sit for 20 minutes. Wipe off the mixture with a dry cloth and rinse the glass.
