Expiration date pasta and rice not necessary

Have you ever thrown away pasta that was past its expiration date? That is not necessary:pasta and rice can be kept almost indefinitely.

Extremely durable
As the expiration date approaches, people throw away pasta and rice when they don't have to. Pasta and rice have an extremely long shelf life.

Say nothing
There should now be an expiration date on the packaging of pasta and rice. Because the products have an almost endless shelf life, that date is still meaningless.

Food waste
'People are now throwing away unnecessary food, so it's better that pasta and rice don't have an expiration date,' said State Secretary Sharon Dijksma of Economic Affairs. The same goes for coffee.
