2. Cut the watermelon in half lengthwise.

3. Cut each half into 2 pieces to get 4 quarters, as shown.

4. Place one quarter on a rimmed baking sheet and grab your sharp knife.

5. Make vertical slices about 3 cm thick, stopping before the blade reaches the rind.

6. Continue slicing vertically at regular intervals along the length.

7. Your quarter should now look like this.

8. Rotate the quarter 90° for easier cutting (optional but recommended).

9. Cut horizontal slices, also 3 cm thick.

10. Keep slicing horizontally to form a grid of cubes.

11. One side should now show the grid pattern.

12. Flip and slice the opposite side horizontally, 3 cm thick.

13. Continue horizontal cuts from top to bottom.

14. Both sides now have a perfect cube grid.

15. Slide the knife between the rind and flesh to separate.
