Soak diced onions in cold water to tame the intensity. Here's how:

1. Dice the onions.
2. Immerse them in cold water for about 10 minutes.
3. Drain them well.
4. Finally add them to the salad.
There you go—the onions' taste is now much milder! :-)
The water draws out the compounds causing that sharp edge.
Simple, effective, and it truly transforms your salad.
