Foods That Make Your Hangover Worse

If you have a severe hangover, there are certain foods and drinks that you should avoid at all costs because they will make you feel even worse. Hard to imagine feeling worse? Don't say we didn't warn you. Stay away from these seven things when you have a hangover.

Alcoholic drinks
Some people believe that drinking more alcohol is the best cure for a hangover. However, it is the worst advice ever given. Drinking more alcohol in the morning will dehydrate you even more, making your hangover worse and making you feel even worse.

Fat food
Even worse than more alcohol is eating fatty foods. That applies late at night when you eat that piece of pizza or fries. Whether it's burgers, fries, pizza, fried chicken or one of the many fatty foods, leave it on both at night and in the morning when you wake up. Your body processes alcohol the same way it does fat and it will choose to process the alcohol over the fat each time, giving you more fat.

Certain breakfast choices
Eggs and toast are a good choice, but those greasy sandwiches with cheese, bacon and sausage on them are just as bad as the greasy foods mentioned above. You only ensure that your body stores these fats instead of processing them.

Orange juice
Orange juice may sound good to drink after a hangover, but it isn't. While the natural sugar and liquids in them are good for you, the acidic nature of oranges can irritate your stomach. Bananas, tomato juice and green tea are some of the best known hangover cures. These drinks replenish your body and brain and can make you feel better.

Meat
Drinking lowers your blood sugar. If you only eat meat without carbohydrates, you make that pounding headache ten times worse. It's best to skip meat altogether.

Too much coffee So you need your coffee to function. We get it, but overdoing it will only make you more dehydrated. Have a cup of coffee after your hangover. Or better, drink that glass of water instead.

Everything spicy
Stay away from spicy food. Your stomach just can't handle those kinds of flavors during a hangover.
