New Study Finds No Direct Link Between Hunger Sensations and Calorie Intake

A comprehensive review of 462 scientific studies reveals no reliable connection between how hungry we feel and the calories we actually consume. Foods marketed for their appetite-modifying effects, such as promoting fullness, do not consistently reduce energy intake. In the majority of studies, subjective appetite ratings did not predict calorie consumption.

“For example, you can eat a meal that claims to satisfy your hunger and make you feel full for a long period of time, yet you can continue to eat a large amount of calories later.”
