How Justin Timberlake's Viral 'Braspberry' Moment Inspired Bai Brands' New Supertea Flavor

In December 2017, singer, songwriter, and actor Justin Timberlake shared a whimsical Instagram video spotting how a blueberry fits perfectly inside a raspberry. "Coincidence? I don't think so," he quipped. What began as playful fun quickly snowballed into something bigger.

That May, Timberlake starred in Bai Brands' "This Just In" ad, where he's a shareholder and has served as "Chief Flavor Officer" since 2016. There, he coined "braspberries"—a mashup of blueberry and raspberry—and assembled one on camera. Bai Brands embraced the idea, launching Tennessee Braspberry Supertea, a raspberry-blueberry flavored drink available throughout June. It joins favorites like peach, passion fruit, and lemon.

Timberlake has long championed Bai, including a standout 2017 Super Bowl ad with Christopher Walken—the brand's first national TV spot during America's biggest event.

Founded in 2009, Bai was acquired by Dr Pepper Snapple in 2017 for $1.7 billion. Flavored waters like these are surging in popularity in the U.S. and France, offering a lighter alternative to sugary sodas linked to obesity, dental issues, and diabetes.

Amid his 2018 Man of the Woods world tour, Timberlake posted a grateful Instagram video tasting the drink. "A dream I didn't even know I had until it came true," he said. Talk about a sweet surprise!
