A festival dedicated to hummus will soon take place in Manchester

Our British neighbors are definitely the best at finding original festival themes. In 2017, London successively hosted a free event dedicated to wine and cheese and then a festival dedicated to grilled chicken. This year, the capital and its good ideas are in competition with a city in the north, Manchester, which will also host its unique festival on the theme… of hummus! We are salivating in advance... It is the Lebanese Society which is part of the University of Manchester which is in charge of organizing this special day around the famous mashed chickpeas with sesame oil which will be held on the 1st next March. On the program, “authentic Lebanese hummus” of course and “exciting activities” such as a blind tasting that will delight young and old. “You will have the opportunity to taste and choose the best hummus from a wide selection. Introducing “real homemade hummus”

Laura Najem, who founded the Lebanese Society with the aim of "bringing Lebanese students together to make Manchester feel at home", told the local newspaper that the idea for such an event came to her after observing strong demand from students. “The hummus that young people buy at the local supermarket does not taste the same as the authentic recipe made in Lebanon. […] We want other students to get a taste of what real homemade hummus looks like and learn about variations of the original recipe ".
