Scientific studies often challenge everyday habits we take for granted—think avoiding facial cleansing in the shower or the optimal way to hang a bra. Now, food storage is under scrutiny. Fridge doors have dedicated egg compartments for convenience, but they're a mistake. Vlatka Lake, a preservation expert at British firm Space Station, warns that frequent openings cause temperature swings, accelerating egg spoilage.
“There’s debate on egg storage: fridge or counter? The consensus favors the fridge, but not the door holders. Those spots face temperature fluctuations from constant openings and closings, leading to quicker deterioration,” Lake explains to The Sun. The fix? Place eggs in the main fridge compartments where temperatures remain steady. They'll stay fresher longer. Next grocery run, we'll make the switch—and maybe whip up cloud eggs too.
