Tapas, soon at Unesco?

Did you know ? Yesterday, Thursday June 16, 2016, was “World Tapas Day”. And for the very first time, it was not just the Spaniards who were concerned since 29 other countries around the world also celebrated it! On the strength of this excitement, the Spanish government sent an official request to Unesco to include this culinary specialty in the Intangible Heritage of Humanity. An initiative that "enjoys unanimous and unconditional support" in Iberian bars.

For them, this "great lady of Spanish gastronomy" has gone beyond her local influence to acquire a universal dimension. She is considered today as the most beautiful ambassador of Spanish culture internationally. It must be said that the strength of tapas lies mainly in their extraordinary diversity. For those who have never been to Spain, tapas are small appetizers, made up of different ingredients:ham, cheese, olives, potato omelet... There is no special recipe, in reality they are just food served in small quantities. A concept also taken up in some bars and restaurants, and always very popular.

Do you find that crazy? We let you take a look at the list of things listed as Intangible Heritage of Humanity. It's worth the detour!
