Spring is finally here, and our team is already envisioning those perfect terrace moments at a café with a refreshing drink in hand—fingers crossed for plenty of sunshine ahead.
Berries steal the show!
In our recent tastings, standout beers included Affligem's cuvée Carmin, infused with vibrant red fruit aromas—ideal for an afternoon catch-up with friends. Red fruits are clearly trending, inspiring Breton ciders like Kerisac's red fruit edition, perfect for aperitifs with its prominent raspberry notes. Raspberry shines again in Loïc Raison's raw cider blended with tangy sweetness, and Hoegaarden's proven Rosée white raspberry beer continues to impress with unwavering quality.
Citrus joins the fun…
Not to be outdone, Val de Rance (from Brittany) delivers Zéphir rosé cider with grapefruit zest that captivates, while Edelweiss pairs citrus peels and a hint of honey in one of its signature beers.
Surprising blends delight
Honey elevates unexpected flavors too: Bellot's CACIBEL ciders craft a delightful honey-blackcurrant mix. Val de Rance's Zéphir range adds white cider with peach for another winner. Edelweiss experiments boldly with forest fruits and elderflower—sip moderately, as it's surprisingly potent. This Heineken-owned Dutch brand also offers its original Alpine white beer, balancing sweet, fruity notes with acidity.
A unique offering
Edelweiss makes waves with a limited-edition box featuring its three beers (citrus-honey, forest fruits-elderflower, and original white), plus a scented candle matching their aromas. Vibrant design included—available from mid-April at Paris's Drugstore Publicis for €24 (three beers + candle).
Drumroll: Our top picks…
Choosing favorites was tough given the high quality, but Val de Rance's white cider with peach conquered our palates—we'll be sipping this all summer. For beers, we're torn between the classic Hoegaarden Rosée and Edelweiss's forest fruits-elderflower innovation. Taste them yourself to rank your own!
Rest assured, our editorial team stayed upright throughout testing—but these fruit-forward drinks cleverly mask their alcohol content, so enjoy responsibly.
