Sleep well with these 4 warm evening drinks

A nightcap can help you relax before going to bed. And no, you don't have to use alcohol. These 4 warm evening drinks with herbs and spices are just as sleep-inducing.

1. Golden milk

Preparation time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 800 ml milk
  • 1 tsp freshly grated turmeric
  • 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp honey, or more to taste
  • 1 pinch of ground cardamom
  • 1 pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • possibly. ground chili pepper, for sprinkling.
  • Additionally needed:tea strainer or fine strainer

Preparation

  • Heat the milk with the freshly grated turmeric and ginger in a saucepan.
  • Stir in the turmeric powder and let it steep for another 5-6 minutes over low heat.
  • Sweeten the warm milk with honey to taste.
  • Add the cardamom, cinnamon and coconut oil and stir well.
  • Pour the drink through a sieve into 4 cups and sprinkle with chili powder if desired.

2. Spicy chili chocolate milk

Preparation time:15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 150 g (extra) dark chocolate
  • 1-2 small chili peppers
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 600 ml milk
  • 200 ml whipped cream
  • 2-3 tbsp brown sugar.
  • Additionally needed:tea strainer or fine strainer

Preparation

  • Break the chocolate into pieces.
  • Half the chili peppers lengthwise (remove the seeds if necessary) and cut open the vanilla pod.
  • In a saucepan, bring the milk with the whipping cream, chili pepper(s) and vanilla pod to the boil.
  • Immediately remove from the heat and pour the mixture through a sieve into another saucepan or measuring cup.
  • Add the chocolate cubes and let stand for 3 minutes.
  • Stir until all the chocolate has melted and add sugar to taste.
  • Spread the chili chocolate milk between 4 cups.

3. Turkish coffee latte with cinnamon

Preparation time:10 minutes, waiting time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 500 ml milk
  • 1 tbsp honey, or more to taste
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 250 ml hot Turkish coffee (or espresso)
  • 100 ml whipped cream, whipped into lumps
  • possibly. ground cinnamon, for sprinkling

Preparation

  • Pour the milk in a saucepan and add the honey and cinnamon.
  • Bring to just below the boiling point and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Take the pan off the heat and let it steep for another 10 minutes.
  • Remove the cinnamon sticks.
  • Reheat the cinnamon milk briefly, add the coffee and possibly more honey.
  • Pour the coffee into 4 glasses and top with some whipped cream.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon powder.

4. Salty soy latte

Preparation time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • ½ vanilla pod
  • 800 ml soy milk
  • 1.5 tbsp locust bean gum
  • fleur de sel
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup, or more to taste.
  • Additionally needed:hand blender

Preparation

  • Cut open the vanilla pod and scrape out the marrow.
  • Pour the soy milk in a saucepan.
  • Add vanilla bean and marrow with the locust bean gum and 1-2 pinches of fleur de sel.
  • Let it simmer for 5 minutes on low heat while stirring.
  • Remove the vanilla pod.
  • Sweeten the warm soy milk with maple syrup to taste.
  • Put a stick blender in the pan and whisk the mixture until foamy.
  • Pour the latte into 4 glasses.
