What foods to favor in autumn?

A new season has already pointed the tip of its nose and we always ask ourselves the same question:what can we eat at this time? It is important to eat foods that are in season because they taste better, are less processed and are less expensive! So we take advantage of autumn to stock up on nutrients before winter.

Here are the good fruits and vegetables to consume right now!

Fruit

Ok, the melon and strawberries are over. But it's time to enjoy delicious grilled chestnuts or associated with a dish. Who says October also says grapes, quince, walnuts and even figs. Don't forget to eat two must-haves of the season:the apple and the pear.

Vegetables

This is the perfect time to go looking for mushrooms in the forest! Between porcini mushrooms, morels and chanterelles we have the choice (but it is still better to know how to pick them!). For cabbage lovers, good news, it's high season:cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, to be enjoyed raw or cooked as desired. But the star food of autumn, especially as Halloween approaches, is squash (pumpkin, butternut squash, squash, etc.)! These vegetables, loaded with vitamins A and iron, will bring a little color to our plates! The root vegetables finally come out of the ground in October. Beets, parsnips, Jerusalem artichokes, carrots, turnips, the list goes on! And nothing better to warm up than cooking them au gratin or even in soup!
