France clinched the world pastry championship for the eighth time on January 23, 2017, solidifying its status as a global leader in exquisite confections. Tal Spiegel, a talented pastry chef originally from Tel Aviv, Israel, has taken it upon himself to showcase this mastery. Now based in Paris, he shares the city's most breathtaking sweet creations on his Instagram account, Desserted in Paris. The 33-year-old, who relocated to France two years ago, makes it a daily ritual to scour the capital's patisseries for the most extraordinary pastries.
His project was born from a serendipitous moment: "It was by chance—I bought a pastry and realized it perfectly matched my shoes. The rest is history," he shares.
Spiegel's signature touch? Pairing each pastry with a matching pair of shoes from his impressive collection—greens, yellows, pinks, blues, moccasins, espadrilles, slippers, and more. Every one of the dozens of patisseries he's featured has a spot-on shoe match. "All the pairs photographed are mine, but I've never counted them!" he laughs. The results are mesmerizing: from artistic strawberry tarts to vibrant éclairs and even a gourmet Rubik's cube. "Parisian pastries are unique and utterly fascinating to study (and taste, of course!)," says the seasoned professional.
With 89,000 devoted followers, Spiegel's aesthetically stunning posts daily inspire cravings and admiration for these edible masterpieces. Prepare to be tempted!
