We've all dreamed of stepping into a parallel universe where everything sparkles in pink hues, brimming with sweets—like Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or the whimsical, candy-filled world of Barbapapa. Australian culinary artist Tanya Schultz, known as Pip & Pop, brings this fantasy to life in her latest masterpiece: a breathtaking sugar-sculpted realm called When Happiness Ruled. This edible archipelago features four islands crafted from 230 kilos of powdered sugar, adorned with over 100 fluorescent and pastel shades, shimmering crystals, plastic flowers, and sequins—an utterly enchanted escape.
Pip & Pop draws direct inspiration from childhood reveries: "These places where streets are made of pastries and rivers flow with lemonade, where you can have everything you want—and more. Some are pure fantasy; others warn against gluttony," she shares with The Creators Project. Viewers decide if her creation leans toward delight or caution—the candy hues dazzle, yet the towering character-mountains intrigue. "I aimed to craft an optimistic work that transports you to another world, a psychedelic paradise," she adds. Mission accomplished.
