Research consistently shows that specific foods can influence our well-being. Building on this insight, scientists from the University of Oxford partnered with Just Eat, a leading meal delivery service, to develop an innovative app that assesses your emotional state. "There is growing evidence that our mood has a significant impact on our taste and smell," explains Professor Charles Spence, head of the Crossmodal Research Laboratory at Oxford and a key figure behind this project.
This app employs advanced 'mood mapping'—essentially facial recognition technology—to scan your face and interpret emotions from subtle cues like downturned lips or furrowed brows. It detects states such as nervousness, disgust, fear, surprise, sadness, joy, or anger, then curates tailored menu suggestions. Spotting a hint of anger? It recommends calming options like dark chocolate or nuts, rich in magnesium for stress relief.
Early testers in Great Britain have reported high satisfaction with this cutting-edge system. When will a French version launch?
